About

The Center for Postdoctoral Affairs in the Health Sciences is housed within the Office of Academic Career Development and is responsible for providing oversight to postdoctoral training and career development within the six schools of the health sciences (dental medicine, health & rehabilitation sciences, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health). It serves as a resource to faculty members recruiting postdoctoral trainees, to departmental administrators responsible for processing postdoctoral appointments, to prospective postdoctoral trainees considering training opportunities at our institution, and especially, to our current outstanding community of postdoctoral researchers advancing the frontiers of science.

Mission

The Center was established to centralize postdoc personnel management in the health sciences, leverage institutional resources to enhance our postdoctoral training environment, and foster successful and satisfying career outcomes for our postdoctoral trainees.

Career Development

Our innovative Career Development Planning and Progress Assessment Process represents best practices in postdoctoral training and prepares our trainees to transition to independence in a broad range of career pathways, both within and outside of academia. We provide a variety of programs and opportunities to ensure that our trainees are enriched intellectually and are professionally prepared to launch successful careers within the biomedical research workforce and beyond.

Career Outcomes

We are committed to the data transparency standards established by the Coalition for Next Generation Life Science to empower our postdoctoral trainees to make informed decisions about their training and career goals. See postdoctoral career outcomes from 2015-2020 here >>>
