Professional Development

SPRINGBOARD is a yearlong, required orientation program for new faculty investigators within the first year of their faculty appointment in the schools of the health sciences. SPRINGBOARD provides opportunities for faculty members to learn about each other’s research, about available research-related and other resources at Pitt and beyond, to gain knowledge about grant, personnel, and career management skills, and to meet key members of our research and administrative community.

The Center for Mentoring serves as a central resource to support professional excellence by encouraging growth and development of faculty as mentors, scholars, and teachers.

An interactive online tool that can be used to help you figure out your career goals.

Easily-searchable database of resources for all bioscience trainees, broken up into a taxonomy of major themes and related sub-themes, that include books, other readings, podcasts, videos, simulations, games, and more.

Pitt Research, led by the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research, is the core unit at the University of Pittsburgh with responsibility to: facilitate research of impact, identify and catalyze strategic opportunities, position the University to lead large research collaborations, translate scholarly excellence into commercial innovation and economic partnership, and maintain the highest standards of research integrity.

Offered by the ICRE and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), the CTS Scholars Program provides courses, seminars, workshops, and experiential training to build essential translational research skills in team science, leadership, stakeholder engagement, communication, and moving innovations to commercialization.

The intent of the CMRF program is to provide funds for junior, independent scientists at the University of Pittsburgh to develop the preliminary data and refinement of procedures and hypotheses that will enable submission of highly competitive applications to national funding sources.

The ICRE seeks to improve health outcomes, practice, and policy by creating an equitable, inclusive environment dedicated to educating the next generation of clinical and translational researchers and medical educators.

Pitt’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) transforms scientific research and clinical discoveries into modern medical techniques that improve lives.
