Pitt Commons

Join Pitt Commons, where you can find a mentor, connect with a peer, ask advice from an alumnus, or all of the above! Engage with the Pitt community through an effective portal that has a multitude of mechanisms to help you succeed.

Ask Pitt Alumni

Ask Pitt Alumni is THE place for asking questions like "What's next?", obtaining career advice, getting a leg up when applying for your dream job, wanting help or introductions, and more. How does it work? You enter your name, email, LinkedIn profile, and school, and then the platform helps you craft a professional question: short headline, briefly introduct yourself, write out what you need help with, and then add a nice closing statement, like this example video explains. What you get back are thoughtful responses from alumni who care about your success!

SCIENCE Career Symposium

This annual event occurs as part of the Career Development Series. PhD alumni return to meet with trainees in person or during virtual roundtables to share their career trajectories and to discuss exciting careers covering a range of employment settings and job sectors. During these meetings, you get to engage directly with alumni and get your questions answered!  Learn more!

How Trainees Will Benefit

Engaging with PhD alumni will expand your network of professional relationships, which will help in inumerable ways along your lifelong career journey as a doctoral and postdoctoral alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh.
