Dr. Hamad is professor of surgery, Associate Residency Program Director
for the Department of Surgery, and Director of Education for the Department of
Surgery at UPMC. She completed her residency in general surgery at Virginia
Commonwealth University and underwent fellowship training in Minimally Invasive
Surgery at UPMC. Her practice is devoted primarily to minimally invasive bariatric
and general surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a
member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the
American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Association for Surgical
Education, and the Association of Women Surgeons. Her research interests
include postsurgical feedback using video debriefing, resident intraoperative decision-making, and gender
disparity in
surgical education.
