Re-Sequencing: How to Heighten Productivity and Maintain Balance Thursday, October 26, 2017 - 3:00pm - 5:00pm S100 Starzl Biomedical Science Tower

Date:
Thursday, October 26, 2017 - 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Location:
S100 Starzl Biomedical Science Tower

This workshop will focus on appropriately organizing and budgeting time at any stage of training to maximize productivity. This is NOT just a time management workshop. The goal of this workshop is to give you a better understanding of how to successfully juggle tasks--in both work and life--to be as effective as possible in the workplace. The workshop will be highly interactive and will encourage you to get started on the “re-sequencing” of work and life events for increased success.

Speaker

Tullia C. Bruno, PhD is a research assistant professor in the Department of Immunology. She directs Dr. Dario Vignali’s translational lab at the Hillman Cancer Center and conducts her own research on the function of tumor infiltrating B cells in non-small cell lung cancer patients. She began her training in the lab as an undergraduate student at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and decided to pursue a PhD in Immunology (with a focus in cancer immunology) at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD as a result. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado where she was also actively involved in the postdoctoral association, serving as President in the last year of her fellowship. As a new faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, she is actively involved in all Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) programs, which provide funding for Dr. Bruno’s research. Outside of her academic research, she is also very interested in science policy and communication, and is an advocate for the postdoctoral community by serving on the National Postdoctoral Association Board of Directors. Throughout her training, she has learned how to re-sequence work tasks to optimize productivity, which is the focus of this interactive workshop.
