If you are starting out in your research career and looking for direction or you
want to discover and develop your leadership skills or learn how to work effectively in
collaborative teams, the
2010 Course in Scientific Management and Leadership will introduce you to and provide you with some of the skills required for successful
career development in both basic and clinical research.
This interactive 2-½ day workshop is designed for postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows and junior faculty in the Schools of the Health Sciences and will provide insight into leadership and team building as well as direction on how to develop and manage a scientific laboratory or research program, how to improve productivity, and how to enhance creativity and innovation. This course provides a unique opportunity to work with a diverse and multidisciplinary group of senior faculty and to network with both basic and clinical researchers from across the Schools of the Health Sciences.

This workshop will be of value and interest to senior postdoctoral and clinical fellows and early junior faculty planning careers in basic, translational, or clinical research. Since space in the course is limited to only 60 participants, interested applicants must provide a letter of nomination from their Department Chair. Applicants must also complete an on-line course application form. Admission to the course will be determined on a competitive basis. The completion of an application is required of all applicants.
