2017 MED Ed Day Abstract Submission

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Deadline to Submit: Friday, July 7, 2017

We welcome:

  • Descriptive abstracts regarding innovative educational programs
  • Educational research projects
  • Educational work by students, fellows, residents, and faculty
  • Abstracts regarding education of all levels of learners: students, fellows, residents, and faculty across all the Schools of the Health Sciences
  • Abstracts with significantly updated data/experience that have been presented at national and regional meetings, including the UPMC GME Leadership Conference
  • Abstract emphasis areas for the 2017 conference include interprofessional education, learning technology, communication skills, well-being, and curricular innovations

ABSTRACT CATEGORIES

We encourage submissions of student/fellow/resident and faculty-driven projects in both categories of poster abstracts: descriptive and research.

Descriptive Abstracts: Abstracts submitted in this category may include descriptions of projects not involving a rigorous study design. These may include curricular or evaluation projects or other interventions that have been performed at your institution/department. Clear descriptions of the project, along with an evaluation of the program, should be included. Statistical analysis is not required, but may be included, if performed.

Educational Research Abstracts: Abstracts submitted in this category should consist of research studies with data already collected. They should be hypothesis generated and have conclusions supported by the data presented. Statistical analysis should be included in the submission.

GUIDELINES

All text should be typed as you would have it appear in print. If accepted, your abstract will be included in the Program Book as submitted.

  • Word count is limited to 400 words.
  • Cannot exceed one printed page.
  • Must have 1-inch margins on the top, left, right, and bottom.
  • Must be single-spaced with 12 point Arial font.

In addition,

  • Figures, tables, charts are not included in the word limit but are included in the page limit.
  • Abstract titles and authors are not included in the word limit, as well
  • No documents with formatting or editing discrepancies (i.e. marked with “track changes”) will be accepted for review by the committee.
  • Abstracts that do not follow the formatting instructions cannot be reviewed.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Submit your abstracts by Friday, July 7th for both abstract categories.

Please Note: If you plan to submit more than one abstract, you must complete a new form for each additional abstract you submit.

When naming your file, you may add a number following your last name to indicate additional abstracts, e.g., Smith1_meded2017.doc, Smith2_meded2017.doc, etc.
