The NIH Roadmap clearly indicates that "team-based" science is one of the keys to success in the future. However, most investigators have little or no formal knowledge of how teams work. This workshop answers the question "Why teams?" and offers participants critical knowledge of how teams work and of how working in teams differs from more traditional approaches to the conduct of science.

An overview of the evaluation process used in the Schools of the Health Sciences will be provided along with the opportunity to learn from faculty involved in the peer-review processes that underlie tenure decisions. Strategies to successfully prepare for a future review as well as guidance on the impact of professional relations will be included.

Discover the Leader in You

Presenter: Brian Fitch, Ph.D.

Learn how you can lead with the temperament that you have. The key is flexibility. Come to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) session and learn how you can collaborate effectively with others and develop mutual respect and trust. You will have an opportunity to complete the MBTI assessment online after you register. The assessment requires approximately 20 minutes to complete. During the session you will receive a personalized MBTI report that describes your temperament, or type, and also explore the impact that your type has on you and others.



Managing Interpersonal Conflict:
A Problem-Solving Approach

Whether conflict surfaces unexpectedly or brews for a long time, we often find ourselves struggling with how to respond. This interactive workshop will provide participants with an effective model for resolving interpersonal conflict in a healthy and productive manner. Interactive exercises and examples will link the material to frequently occurring conflicts in clinical and research settings.
